Why do boss and shrine monster seem to have increased resistance when they are about to die?

Sorry for reviving this thread. it’s due to enemy heal map affix. Especially in high floor, I’m not sure how much mob heal is, but it looks like the heal is more than your your damage that’s why they wont die.

I think there might be a visual aspect to this, too. The healthbar over their heads seems to have some “below empty” space that you need to hurt them through in order to finish them.
