Blinkstrike and Smokebomb work really well together. Use a Jasper Crystal to change your MH spell to Blinkstrike. I like using Pistols.
If you get in a bind, lay a smokebomb. Then Blinkstrike and cut your enemy to ribbons.
Another tactic, Blinkstrike in, then lay a smokebomb. Your enemy will never even see what hit them.
Smokebomb naturally comes with vault. Vault away when things get desperate.
