May I share my two favourite songs of all time because they make me happy

Number two is the beatles. Ignore the first minutes of this video because they are messing around https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A_MjCqQoLLA Number one is a seemingly cheesy song that my grandmother sang to to me as a baby. She lived through world war two and if you listen to the lyrics it’s not so cheesy. It’s sung by Doris Day who hated the song. Sorry Doris it’s a great song https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xZbKHDPPrrc

Que serra serra translates to whatever will be will be.

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here’s what she said to me

Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que será, será
What will be, will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here’s what my sweetheart said

Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que será, será
What will be, will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que será, será
What will be, will be
Que será, será

here are the lyrics for the song. it kind of makes me think that the future is made up of the choices and risks we make today. some things we can never really predict, and others are hopes and possibilities.

I love the song possibly because my grandmother sung it to me as a baby and subliminally impressed it into my brain. There’s another song she sung me calling up. But why I love this song (sorry Doris Day who hated it ) it is sweet and bitter. It’s perfect.

I was just reading the Wiki for Que Sera Sera, and it has an interesting history, both the song and the phrase, Que Sera Sera.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Que_Sera,Sera(Whatever_Will_Be,_Will_Be)

now being intrigued by Doris Day hating the song, I looked that up also and found this.

it looks like she had more of a hate/love relationship with the song. in the end, it is a really good song with an interesting history behind it, and an even better story of how it has become an interesting part of world history as a term used in many languages.

Oh here is another song that I heard in a 1980s programme that I fell in love with. Again it was revealed my grandmother used to sing me to sleep with it. It’s a German song from world war two

timeless song i love them
