Some Help with Game Mechanics Please :)

Hi folks, somewhat new to the whole DQ scene. I just have a few questions. Hopefully someone experienced can provide some insight.

General Questions:

  1. What are the purpose of maps? Do certain drops come only from maps? Or are they only there to provide some randomness?
  2. Do +weapon damage stats on OH affects the MH damage (and vice versa)? I noticed that if I change the element of my OH, the +XX Ele Dmg on it also changes to the new element (which made me think my MH skills are also doing less damage if they were the same element before). Would it be advantageous to have both MH and OH use the same element?
  3. Just to make sure, Mythstones of different pieces stack right? That is to say if I have 2% HP steal Mythstone on two different items, i get 4% total HP steal?
  4. Does Crushing Blow have a limitation? By limitation, I mean does it ALWAYS take 25% of the enemy’s current health? Or does it get reduced by enemy resistance? Does it work on bosses also?
  5. Do different items drop depending on the floor number? I.e. if I wanted to farm specific items, should I focus on certain floor levels, etc?
  6. How useful is +% Luck on items?

Regarding Wiz:

  1. Is it normal that summons do not attack bosses on the boss-only stages? Is that intended or a bug?

Regarding Rogue:

  1. How does “Ascendant” work? It says 'Resists and Prismatic +12.5%, Arcane Dmg reduces other resists by 12%" Particularly, what does “Prismatic” mean? Does that mean I get a 12.5% chance to cast a different element (like that Wiz passive)? Also, what does the second part mean? Does that mean my resists will go down by 12% if I get hit by Arcane Damage?
  2. What effect does “+2 Vault” on an item have on the actual skill? From my understanding, Vault doesn’t do any damage. Does that mean Vault will do 10% of my OH damage?

If there is a specific guide for Wiz/Rogue out there that I could browse, could you direct me to it? I’m looking for ideas on what items to use. I’m currently using Wand on my Wiz (primarily cause Storm seems like the strongest Wiz skill) with the Teleport OH (to get around quicker). Would it be wiser to find/upgrade a good Mana Shield OH then stack as much %MP Steal as I can? I tried doing Mana Shield before but it gets drained so quickly for me. Seems like a lot of people like it though.

For Rogue, I’m using Flintlock cause it feels so OP.

  7. To go higher than floor 200, finding better loots, trying to be first in leaderboard and playing in hardcore difficulty

  8. Nope, +dmg %dmg only affect the item on which they are. %elementDMG changes regarding to the element applied on the weapon (as you noticed)
    Indeed that’s better to have each pieces of the same element if you’re using %elementDMG on each piece, otherwise the affixes are useless

  9. Always 25% of HP. Capped at 60% Crushing Blow

  10. Check your legendEX, some items can be found everywhere while some can only be found in specifics areas

  11. %luck increase the rarity of item dropped by monsters, i.e : 0% luck : ton of “normal” and “magic” items, while 650% luck : ton of “rare” and “legends” items
    Also %luck only apply on items, not on CS and MS

Prolly bugged, but don’t pay attention to 1.6 summoners et minions, everything is reworked in 1.7 and that’s so much better et less bugged

  3. Prismatic allow you to cast any elements, whatever the element of your weapon
    Ascendant work this way :

  • If an ennemy is affected by “arcane dmg” (the ennemy is purple colored), his resists to others elements are reduced by 12%

Just a follow up question or rather more of asking advice. How do you guys deal with mobs that are resistant to the element you are using? Do you carry extra weapon pieces you swap in each time? Or is there some useful stat to stack (like Weaken)?

Also, is there a particular advantage in using Arcane element? It seems like I don’t get the bonus resist from gear (which other elements offer) and Prismatic doesn’t seem to ever change the element of Storm (at least it doesn’t visually, I don’t know if the damage actually changes).

“ignore resist” (legend affix), but not working past floor 200 (ennemies immune to this)
Weaken reduces their resistance (= you’re dealing more damage to them), but it’s not about “resist” of your opposite element

Arcane can’t be countered by the others elements,
Prismatic makes you using every elements but randomly, you can combine this to ascendant, which is very powerful :smile:

Arcane cant be countered? whats that supposed to mean?
