Does Weaken work on PVP? And if so, how much does it actually boost damage? I am just curious about the maths, like is better to have a crystal for weaken which is guaranteed, or should I boost damage through other means like crushing blow or Deadly strike which is not guaranteed but the effects are much more clear and easy to build around. I main a rouge with pistols.
Weaken works in PVP, but Players don’t have any Element Resists like monsters, so it’s a damage boost.
Weaken has a Cap of about 80 in PVP, which can be increased with Epiphany.
Crystal Weaken is 18 in PVP.
Epic Weaken is 6.
Mythstone Weaken is 9.
the way Weaken works in PVP is something like this.
with 2 Crystal Weaken for +36% Weaken, you have a 36% chance for any attack that isn’t Crushing Blow or Crushing Flames to do +36% more damage. if you add a Mythstone, you have 45% chance for +45% more damage.
I think I have seen it explained that weaken isn’t chance based at all, and the description would support that too, so idk about your answer here.
as mentioned by the Dev’s, there isn’t enough space for the full description, but Weaken % is the chance to do Weaken damage. since it has a cap of 200%, Weaken 100% and higher is automatically Weaken damage.

So then it wouldn’t be too helpful in Arena since the cap will be 80 right? Basically not guaranteed and worse than crits, considering it takes 3 slots to get something near max without eternals, the benefits don’t seem as good without Be being able to break 100%. Competing against more crit chance, more crit damage, deadly strike chance, etc. I don’t think it would make the cut.

1 Crystal Crit Chance & Crit Damage vs 2 Crystal Weaken in PVP, Critical does 0.48% less DPS than Weaken.
when I first did the math, Weaken did less DPS, then I remembered that if I only did Weaken, there is a 10% Chance to do +50% Critical Damage.
Criticals, even with Deadly Strike, give high spike damage at the cost of DPS, while Weaken gives better DPS at the cost of doing low & medium spike damage.
So if I replace my spike dmg for PVP with blue weaken instead of crits it’s better, considering that it has higher cap than blue crits chance, plus each weaken has 50% crit dmg?
That would change a lot of things in my build🔥
every hit has a 10% base chance of doing +50% Crit DMG in PVP. any attack affected by Weaken would do more crit damage because the ‘base’ damage is boosted by Weaken.
Spike damage is a fast way to lower enemy HP. hopefully, your spike damage and normal damage together is lowering enemy HP faster than they can heal.
going the Weaken route, as shown with my math, is also trying to lower enemy HP faster than it can be healed.
technically, if you have 2 Crystal Weaken and 1 each Crystal Crit Chance & Crit Damage, you get the benefits of both.
Attack Speed, Cooldown, Attack Frequency, DPS are also ways to quickly lower an enemies HP.
the reason there is not ‘only one possible amazing PVP Build’ is because there are so many combinations of Attack PVP Builds vs so many combinations of Defense PVP Builds. this is the main reason the Meta keeps changing.
