As you progress through higher floors, enemy damage scales drastically to the point that monster can just 1 shot you no matter what, resists & damage reductions are pretty much irrelevant, instead, try investing on Dodge or Block, the higher the % the better. Also, skills with mobility will help you reposition yourself better to avoid enemy attacks.
I have several wizard builds that I can share to help you climb higher floors (I’m at Floor 3000+ M3), what kind of build are you looking for?
looking at the build, quad is using a Farm Build to climb floors.
in addition to all the things already mentioned, the builds damage potential is really low.
I would suggest using the build as is on a lower floor and working on a second build that has a focus on damage and defense for climbing floors.
another thing is getting Items with Crystal affixes or getting Obsidian crystals through farming, converting Items, or upgrading Crystals.
Epic +15% Attack Speed
Crystal +45% Attack Speed
floor level is part of the formula for damage reduction from Armor & All Resist, which causes Armor & All Resist to become weaker on higher floors.
use Diamond to get better affix values on all Legend Items with Legend (Red) affixes, then use Fluorite for each Epic (Orange) affix. don’t worry about affixes on the Pet, they will improve over time automatically.
read Codex > Dictionary > Affixes so that you know what affixes are available and what they do so that you can have an idea for future changes. with a Pet, there are only 42 spaces total for affixes, so it can get frustrating. I’ve been playing for years, and I still get frustrated with only 42 affixes per build.
Yeah I figured that in the long run Manashield won’t be useful.
I’m pretty fast but the enemies still hit me sometimes.
@Silhouette, most of the build that I see posted here for players that are far more advanced I think. I guess my goal is to climb easier and get more loot. I like my current build because you press one button and the AOE just kills everything but I don’t like how long is the cooldown (but I must say that it’s cool when it Procs when I spam Manashield so that I don’t even need to stop moving to use the Storm). Anyway, @Silhouette, if you have some builds that are actually doable for me I will try them. I don’t intend to keep the playstyle of my build if it’s not even close to being optimal.
Also I have a warrior hireling. How can I make use of him?
The gameplay would be the Warrior hireling will tank & taunt enemies (also freezes them) to group them while the Wizard will just snipe the enemies from afar by spamming barrage (use Timewarp always at the same time), It’s a playsafe gameplay, at some point there will be enemies that gets close to you then just use Teleport to avoid them. The Wizard has 60% Dodge while the Warrior has 75% Dodge & 75% Block with Smokebomb Proc for more survivability.
Set the Warrior Hireling to only use Smash, Hatchet & Scalp and 25 yards distance away from you.
@Silhouette, can you tell me in steps roughly how do I get from my build to yours? What affixes to change? What items to replace whatsoever? What stats to invest points in?
I saw a post long time ago that explains how to craft these kind of items. Can’t find it now. I’d like to know if there is like a collection of guides here on the forum or elsewhere.
I know that some of the set affixes, like Nadroji, are unrollable with a crystal. Where can I find an up-to-date info on these kind of nuances? I see that fandom wiki is not a reliable source.
@quad If you want to fast clear on your current floor stage (you’re on Floor 300+ right?) I highly suggest getting a Crushing Flames Set on your gear as it deals enormous amount of damage.
Do take note that Crushing Flames relies on Immolate (Fire Elemental Crit.) & Crushing Blow. Wizard can easily get a hold of this as Wizardry Talent(Head) gives Elemental Crit.
30% Crushing Blow & 30% Elemental Crit. is the bare minimum for Crushing Flames (for me atleast).
for survival, on Wizard I always use the Orb Off-Hand weapon no matter what the build is, for mobility so I can always teleport away from danger as 60% dodge isn’t always safe.

As for a guide for how I make mine, here’s what I can share.
• To make the item Purple, you need to slot Mythics Skills into it, this can be done by putting 4 empty sockets on gear using Zircon Crystal then add 4 corresponding mythstones for different mythic skills.
Here’s the lists of Mythic Skills and the mythstones required for each skills.
The affixes obtained from Obsidian is pure random, so just wish & pray that the affix you’re looking for will be on the choices. If not, then just convert the item and try again.
• For the Different Sets of choice, you can use Amethyst Crystal to change an item’s set to a different one.
Here’s a guide on what sets you can/can’t get using Amethyst Crystal.
Here’s what I do in sequence when making builds.
Step 1 starts is when I get the items that I need, I first use Obsidian Crystals on the item, I’m always looking for Crushing Blow& Dodge affixes on my builds. If the affix choices isn’t to your liking, you have no choice but to just convert/salvage the item then repeat from the start.
Step 2, use Emerald Crystals to increase the quality of the Item to 25% (max for legend items).
Step 3, use Diamond Crystals to reroll your chosen affix from Step 1.
Step 4, here’s the part that you really need to think. Crafting Mythic Skills. Choose which type of mythic skills you want that works for your chosen build. (Be aware that once you add a mythic skill to an item, it can no longer be change or remove, so think carefully).
Step 5, Set Synergy, if there’s a set I wanted to change to compliment my build, I just use Amethyst Crystals to get that set (use the guide provided above for further explanation).
Step 6, Build review, after Step 5, I always check the Stats/Affixes/Talents/Skills that’s related to the build. Check your Skills& Talents, always choose what works for the build, same goes for stats/affixes, for me I always look for 60% Crushing Blow & 60% Dodge on almost all of my builds. If there’s something that I need to change or increase, we go to the next step.
Step 7, minmaxing stats, if you’re lacking stats or affixes for you desired build, use crystals or mythstones to increase or change them. What you add or change here solely depends on you.
Shop - Vender tab Items have a high chance to be a greater rarity.
my first Eternal Item was a level 2 Gauntlet from the Shop, I used it for a long time because of how good the Twister was. I converted it when I got better and had better Items on higher floors.
I can’t do this build. I can only imagine how many rare and ultra rare crystals and mythstones it takes, and I only have a few.
I managed to push to 450th floor with my old build, but I’m tired of dying to a random projectile and it costing me a gazillion gold to buy a new map.
What if I add more equipment that gives AoE Range? If my Storm ability size will be greater than enemy projectile’s travel distance then I’d be chill, no?
I’d like to see more builds or just a good ability/set combo.
Also, I’ve been saving items with 4+ Empty Sockets because I can’t afford to add the Sockets. Are these items good for anything?
read about Mythic affix descriptions in the Codex > Dictionary. each of them have a recipe of 4 Mythstones that are placed in Sockets to make a Mythic affix.
consider if a Mythic is good for the build you are thinking about, or you will end up having to start over with a new item with a different mythic affix. some mythic affixes are good with almost any build, and others only certain types of builds. plus there is how you see your build working with any particular Mythic affix.
last I looked, Storm has a 7 second cooldown, so having enough Cooldown to have it at 5 second cooldown or a little lower is good… ok, looking at the Storm info, putting skill points into Storm increases DMG +5% per Rank, Hit Frequency +2.5%, -1.5% Cooldown, and Elemental Critical (+0.5% I think).
at Rank 20 you get -
+100% Storm DMG
+50% Hit Frequency (each enemy gets hit 6 times a second for 5 seconds unless they die early)
-30% Cooldown (4.9 second cooldown)
+10% Elemental Critical.
@quad I have a small tip for you, I don’t know if you’ll like the gameplay or how the build works, but the build will snipe enemies from afar. Since you’re on lower floors, here’s some of what you need.
Important :
Wand MH (Barrage) & Orb OH (Teleport).
Crushing Flames Set.
30%-60% Crushing Blow Affix (Can be slotted to a socket with Rebirth Mythstone, or as Epic Affix through Topaz Crystal).
Nature of Elements (Elemental Damage) or Nature of Haste (Attack Speed) on items using Beryl Crystal.
Prioritize putting skill points to Barrage, get atleast Barrage (30) or (40).
Put Extra Attack Chances on MH and Multi Attack on any gear, (+2 Extra Attack can be obtained through Topaz (Epic Affix) or +4 Extra Attack through Zenith Mythsone. Multi Attack can be slotted to ring & amulet using Zenith Mythstone.
Sanctuary Mythic Skill on Amulet
This won’t require a lot of crystals but will definitely give you a huge chunk of damage with sense of safety (since you’re just spamming barrage from a distance). On emergency situations you can use the TeleportOH skill to get away from enemies.
Optional :
Having Angelic Set is pretty good with this, it increases APS & Damage of your Barrage.
You can change the Shatter (OH Special) to Timewarp using Amber, as Barrage works perfectly with Timewarp to boosts its damage.
If you’re following #2, Get a Cosmic Power Set.
Even if the weapon’s main element is Fire and the build is on Crushing Flames, since you’re using Wizard (considering you’re having the Wizardry Talent), you can get Ascendent Set or pick the Prismatic Talent for you to cycle through different Elemental Criticals for Crowd Control [like Freeze (Ice) and Paralysis (Shock)] while Crushing Flames still works.
This won’t require you to slot Teal Affixes using Obsidian Crystals and doesn’t require all items to have Mythic Skills (except for Sanctuary). You can get the Sets mentioned by just crafting it through codex, just plan which set for which item you’ll be crafting.
Note :
The entire build has a lot of free slots, so put anything to those slots that suits your preference.
The build doesn’t have Dodge, so play safely in a distance.
You can also cast storm then immediately teleport to a distance and spam barrage, in this manner you’ll have two offensive ways of dealing damage.
